Past Dedications:

2009 Fair Dedication to our Friend & Fellow Lion:

Charles Barrasso

Charlie was the epitome of Lionism, having served for over 35 years, he was a Life Member of the Hebron Lions Club. Charlie served as President of the Lions Club (1980), Superintendent of the Hebron Harvest Fair (1983) and was a long-time member of the Lions Board of Directors. He also served as the President of the Connecticut State Fair Association. Among his many accomplishments, Charlie was recognized many times for his contributions to Lionism including a Melvin Jones Fellowship (twice 1987 & 2005), a Knight of the Blind (1996) and was named a Lion of the Year by the Hebron Lions Club (1997).

He was a life long citizen of Hebron, and a life long doer of hard work and hard jobs. He took the underdog position on many issues with thoughtful respect for the rights and opinions of all people. His dedication to the community of Hebron, as a volunteer in the Hebron Fire Department and his many hours of involvement with the Church of the Holy Family, shows the broadness of his generosity.

Charlie was Charlie!

Whenever a job needed to be done, he was there. Whenever a deserving fund raiser needed help, he was there. Whenever there was discussion or an opinion needed, he was there.

He took his responsibilities to his family and community seriously. More importantly he was a man filled with love for his family especially Bernice, his wife of 53 years. He had a lot of pride in the accomplishments of his children, Fern, Jean & Dawn as well as his grandson, Andrew.

We should not mourn his passing, we should rejoice on his life among us. We are all better for his being a part of our lives.
