Rising Star Talent Show
RULES FOR CONTESTANTS
- The Rising Star Talent Show is open to anyone who wants to perform. All acts must submit a application and a MP3/CD of the act to be eligible to compete at the Hebron Harvest Fair. Applications are available from www.hebronharvestfair.org/pages/HHFRisingstar.html.
- Auditions may be held if the number of applicants exceeds the number of acts that can be acommodated. If auditions are required, all applicants must attend the audition to be eligible to compete at the Hebron Harvest Fair. Invitations to compete at this year’s fair will be sent via email after a review of the act. The actual act performed at the fair must be the act submitted for pre-judging or you will be disqualified. If selected you will receive an email invitation with competition dates and times along with gate passes. Judges’ decisions are final.
- Age Requirements: Youth: 4 through 12 years. Young Adult: 13 through 21 years
- A person’s age for the talent show competition is determined on September 1st
- When one member of an act is 12 or under, that act must appear in the Youth category. All 13 or 14-year-olds may appear with younger person in an act, but no one age 15 or older will appear in the Youth category and no one 12 or under will appear in the Young Adult division. However no one over 21 can compete in this talent show.
- Each act will run no more than three minutes. Acts running longer than three minutes will be disqualified. Set up/Breakdown time is not included, but is limited to two minutes.
- No more than five people are allowed in an act. Drums, amps, etc. are not allowed due to the two minute set-up time. A Sound Person will be available and will assist all acts in setup.
- Groups must form a straight line on stage for introductions. Acts may not dance onto or off the stage. After introductions, you may take any position you wish to begin your performance.
- Vocalists may sing with a pre-recorded background CD or any type of pre-recorded electronic musical accompaniment. However no other vocals or back-up vocals are allowed. Pantomime, lip sync, and karaoke are also not allowed with a pre-recorded accompaniment of any kind. CDs may be used as accompaniment for dance acts, baton, etc. Pure “mime” is accepted.
- Contestants may only appear once in any given show. They may not perform “solo” and then return in the same show in a duet or trio.
- Professionals are NOT permitted to compete. This includes Union musicians and anyone whose principle source of income is from their talent. Compensation for performing at weddings, etc., does not constitute principle source of income.
- Performers that have won in the previous year may enter the competition again. However, performers that win two years in row are not eligible to perform in the next year and must sit out for one season of competition, unless in the next year they are eligible to move from the Youth Category to the Young Adult Division.
- You will need name, complete address, birth date, age, phone number (include area code), and type of talent. Multiple acts need a member to act as a contact person with all information going through them.
- Applications and CDs/DVDs must be postmarked by August 1, 2010. All applications and CD/DVDs become the property of the Hebron Harvest Fair.
